To improve the understanding of the rotating stall onset, ONERA performed unsteady simulations of the low-speed compressor CME2, from stabilized to stalled operating point with elsA software. Visualization of axial velocity in compressor channel at mid-span and skin friction magnitude over hub and blade walls. Tip leakage flow of the rotor impacted by blade loading and mis-adaptation of incidence angle is responsible for the rotor stall onset.
